The six appearances of Our Lady in Fatima, on Lucia aged, 10, Jacinta aged 7 and Francesco aged 9 years commenced with three appearances of an Angel.

First apparition of the Angel

Lucia was together with three other girls when they saw something like a person floating above the trees. It was as white as snow and transparent.
As he came near we were able to see his features. We were astonished and absorbed and we said nothing to eachother. And then he said: Don't be afraid. I'm the angel of peace. Pray with me.
He knelt, bending his forehead to the ground. With a supernatural impulse we did the same, repeating the words we heard him say: "My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love You. I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love You".

After repeating this prayer three times the angel rised and said to us: "Pray in this way. The hearts of Jesus and Mary are ready to listen to you". And he disappeared.

Second apparition of the Angel

Sometime during the summer of 1916 the three cousins were playing in the heat of the day in the garden. Lucia describes how the angel appeared to them once more, chastising them for their lack of spiritual seriousness. Sudden we saw the same angel near us.
What are you doing? You must pray! Pray! The hearts of Jesus and Mary have merciful designs for you. You must offer your prayers and sacrifices to God, the Most High.
"But how are we to sacrifice?" I asked.
In every way you can offer sacrifice to God in reparation for the sins by which He is offended, and in supplication for sinners. In this way you will bring peace to our country, for I am its guardian angel, the Angel of Portugal. Above all, bear and accept with patience the sufferings God will send you.

Third apparition of the Angel

Lucia is uncertain when the third apparition of the angel occurred, sometime in late September or in October 1916 is her recollection. Having gone to the Cabeco with their flocks, and being more attentive to the words of the angel, they immediately knelt down to pray the prayer taught them by the angel: My God, I believe, I adore etc

After we had repeated this prayer I don't know how many time we saw the shining over us a strange light. We lifted our heads to see what was happening. the Angel was holding in his left hand a chalice and over it, in the air, was a host from which drops of blood fell into the chalice. The Angel leaves the chalice in the air, kneels near us and tells us to repeat three times: "Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly, and I offer You the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences by which He is offended. And by the infinite merits of His most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners".

After that he rose, took again in his hand the chalice and the host. The host he gave to me and the contents of the chalice he gave to Jacinta and Francesco, saying at the same time: "Eat and drink the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ outraged by the ingratitude of men. Offer reparation for their sakes and console God". Once more he bowed to the ground repeating with us the same prayer thrice: "Oh, Blessed Trinity etc." and disappeared.

The children stayed in the same position, repeating this prayer. Much later when, they looked up and noticed that it was evening, they went home.
Following the appearance of the angel they experienced of happy debility for days and weeks overcome by the thought that from the hands of an Angel they had received the Body and Blood of Christ. This feeling only disappeared very slowly. They all talked about it to each other. The awareness of the presence of God was so, very intense and it gave them great inner peace.

First apparition of Our Lady

It was on the 13th of May 1917 that Our Blessed Lady appeared for the first time.
They were playing and building a wall when they suddenly saw a flash of lightening. They thought that a storm was brewing and herded the sheep together to take them home.
They once again saw a flash of lightening and shortly afterwards they saw above a small holm oak tree a Lady dressed entirely in white and shining more brilliantly than the sun.
They were standing so close to it that they were standing in this Light.

The Beautiful Lady said: "be not afraid, I shall do you no harm". Lucia asked:" where have you come from?" It's Lucia who asks all the questions. "And what to you want from me?"
The Blessed Virgin said: "I come from Heaven, I come to ask to you to come back here on the thirteenth of the month at the same time for six months. Then I shall tell you who I am and what I want. Then I shall come a seventh time.” Then Lucia asked, " Shall I also go to Heaven?" "Yes."... "And Jacinta?"... "as well" .."And Francesco?"..."He too, but first he must pray a lot of Rosaries."Then Lucia asked about two girls, aged 16 and 20, who had died recently, if they were in Heaven. "The first is and the second not". Was the reply.

This was the first appearance when they got to know Our Lady. Then Our Lady started to tell them why She had come.
" Will you all offer yourselves to God to carry the suffering. that He shall give you in reparation for sin and for the conversion of sinners?"
In childlike and heroic simplicity they answered. "We want to". "Then you suffer a lot, but the Grace of God shall be your strength!" While She said the words: "The grace of God She opened Her hands out of which came beams of such a strong light, that it dug into the deepest depths of our souls. In this way She showed us ourselves in God, Who is this Light.
We saw ourselves better than in the mirror, Lucia tells us. Due to an enormous inner urge to do so, we fell to our knees and repeated: “Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly and I offer You the most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He Himself is offended. And by the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of You the conversion of poor sinners."After a short time, Our Lady said: "Pray the Rosary every day for peace in the world and for the end of the war! At the end of the rosary say the following prayer: My Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fire of Hell and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who have the most need of Thy Mercy.” Then She slowly moved away to the east.

Second apparition of our Lady
On the 13th of June, Lucia, Jacinta and Francesco were praying the first Rosary with several other people, when the children saw The Light and then The Blessed Virgin above the oak tree. Just as previously, Lucia asked, "what do you want of me?" " I want you to return here on the 13th day of the coming months, that you pray the Rosary every day and learn to read. Later I shall tell you what I would really like."Then Lucia asked for the healing of a sick person. "If he turns to God, he will be healed this year," Our Lady said. Then Lucia asked The Blessed Virgin to take them all to Heaven. "Yes, I shall quickly come to take Jacinta and Francesco. You shall stay here for a while as Jesus wants to use you to make me known and loved and to establish, throughout the world devotion to My Immaculate Heart, to all those who embrace it I promise salvation, and their souls will be loved by God as flowers placed by me before His Throne."
"Will I remain here alone?" Asked Lucia sadly. "No! my child! I shall never leave you. If this thought causes you great suffering, remember that My Immaculate Heart will forever be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God."While She spoke these last words, Our Lady opened Her hands once again, embraced them in that Heavenly Light in which they felt that they were lost in God. Jacinta and Francesco appeared to be standing in the Light that shines from Heaven, while Lucia was in the Light which shines over the world. On Our Blessed Lady’s right hand side a heart appeared pierced by thorns. The children understood that this was the Immaculate Heart of Mary wounded by the sins of the people for which reparation was needed. Then Our Lady gave them a secret.

Third apparition of Our Lady
3th of July 1917. When Our Lady appears for the third time a large number of people are present.
They prayed the Rosary together and within a short period of time the children saw the beam of Light. And then Our Lady appeared. Lucia asked her usual question. "What do you want of me?" She received the same answer, as always, "I want you to come here on the thirteenth of each month and that you continue praying the Rosary in honour of Our Blessed Lady of the Rosary, for peace on earth and the ending of the war, as She alone can gain this Mercy".
"I would like to ask you who you are and if you will perform a miracle, so that the people will believe that you appear to us." Having asked this, Lucia then asks some other questions.

These had been given to her by other people and concerned several different things as well as miracles for healing. Our Lady answered that the people must pray the Rosary in order to gain these miracles during the coming year.

Fourth apparition of Our Lady
August 13th 1917, the children were in prison in Ourem. Jacinta, in tears offered everything for the conversion of sinners. The time that Our Lady would appear came and went. The twenty thousand people saw and hear the rumble of thunder and a vividly brilliant flash of lightening in the clear blue sky. The sun grew pale and the whole atmosphere changed to a dull, sick sort of yellow, while a light cloud, of beautiful shape, appeared and hovered a while over the oak tree and the place of the apparitions.

On the 19th of August, Mary appeared to the children in the area which is called Valinos.
Once again She appeared above a holm oak tree. Lucie said: "What do you wish of me?" Our Lady answered,"I want you to come to Cova da Iria on the thirteenth and continue to pray the rosary, at the last appearance, I shall do a miracle, so that all people may believe."
"What are we to do with the money which the people leave at Cova da Iria?"
"This money is for the the feast day of Our Lady of The Rosary, that which is left over is to build a Chapel" When Lucie asked Our Lady to heal some sick people. Our Lady answered, "During the next year I shall heal some. Pray! Pray! A lot and bring offers for the sinners, as a lot of souls go to hell because nobody offers themselves for these souls or prays for them. Pray!"
Our Lady was elevated and moved off towards to the East.

Fifth apparition of Our Lady
13th of September, Rumours were spreading that God was going to do something special on this day. Lucies mother, who often hit her child as she thought that Lucie was telling lies had fixed all her hopes on this. But nothing happened which made the appearances clearer.

Sixth and last apparition of Our Lady
13th October 1917, As Our Lady had said that a great miracle would take place on this day, more than 70.000 people were present that evening. Some of them had been there since the previous evening despite the bad weather, many had slept in the open field.
Now Our Lady made Herself known as, "Our Blessed Lady of The Rosary".
"I have come to encourage people to change their lives and no longer to insult God with their sins. I want a Chapel built here. If the people repent, and bring offers of reparation, there will be peace on earth"
While saying this, she again opened her hands and let them shine in the sun as She elevated Herself. Her own brilliant light was reflected onto the sun, which in turn reflected it back. Lucie shouted out that all the people must look at the sun. When Our Lady drifted off into the distance, St Joseph with The Child Jesus and Our Blessed Lady dressed in white, with a blue cloak St Joseph blessed the world with a hand movement in the form of a cross.

The deaths of Francesco and Jacinta

After this the interrogations commenced and as always people tried to get the children to tell the secrets that Our Blessed Lady had told them. But without success, as even the little Jacinta said, " rather die than tell". Jacinta died soon afterwards 4th of February 1920.
She died alone in hospital in Lisbon, just as Our Lady had said.
Francesco had died the previous year on the 4th of April 1919.Lucie is still alive. Our Blessed Lady had said that she would live longer as Our Blessed Lord had chosen her to be His worker to make Our Lady known and to increase the devotion to Her Immaculate Heart.

On the 10th of December 1925 Our Blessed Lady appeared to her in Pontevedra, with Her Child in a cloud of light. The Child said: "have mercy on the heart of your Blessed Mother, it is surrounded with thorns with which the ungrateful people still continue to pierce it. Continually piercing Her heart with nobody removing the thorns by acts of restitution". Then Our Blessed Lady said: "My daughter, see My heart surrounded by thorns with which the ungrateful people pierce it with their blasphemous language and ungratefulness.Will you try to comfort me and to make it known, that all who have attended Mass on the first Saturday for five consecutive months, been to confession and received Holy Communion, prayed the rosary and kept Me company for fifteen and ungratefulness. to make it known that all minutes whilst contemplating the mysteries of the rosary and do this has restitution I shall grant them the mercy which they will need in their hour of death".

Later apparitions to Sr. Lucia

The Infant Jesus appeared to Lucie on the 15th of February and asked if she had made these things known? Lucie explained to Him the difficulties created by her father confessor, that her mother superior was prepared to spread this message. But that her confessor had said the mother superior could do nothing on her own. Jesus answered: "It is true that mother superior can do nothing on her own, but with My Grace, she can do anything". Lucie also explained the difficulties of that some people encountered with having to go to confession on a Saturday. She asked if they could do this over a period of eight days? Jesus said; " Yes, it may also be over a longer period as long as they are in a state of grace when they receive Me and that their intention is to bring restitution to The Immaculate Heart of Mary".
"My Jesus, what if someone forgets this intention?". " They may then do so the next time they go to confession, as long as they use the next opportunity to do so".

Tuy, Spain, 13 of June 1919. My mother superior and Father confessor had given me permission to hold a holy hour from Thursday 23.00 hours until Friday Midnight. One night, I was alone praying on my knees in the Chapel, the prayer of the Angels. I was feeling very tired and stretched, continuing to pray with my arms stretched out. The perpetual sanctuary lamp was the only light. Suddenly the entire chapel was filled with a super natural light, a Cross of Light appeared which spread to the edges of the altar. In a very clear light, in the upper part of the Cross, was the Face and upper torso of the Body of a person. In front of the chest was a Dove of light and the Body of another Person was nailed to the Cross. Just below the waist a chalice was suspended, above which there was a large Host onto which fell some drops of blood. from the Face of the crucified and some drops of Blood from the wound in His chest. These drops rolled from the host into the chalice. Under the right arm of the cross stood Our Lady of Fatima with Her Immaculate Heart in Her left hand. It was devoid of the sword or the roses, but with the crown of thorns and flames.
Under the left arm of the cross, appeared some large letters looking like crystal clear water that flowed towards the altar forming the words:

"MERCY AND CHARITY"

I then received more detail about the mystery of the Blessed Trinity, which is a secret that I may not tell.
Then Our Blessed Lady said; " Now is the time for The Pope to invite all the Bishops of the world to join him to dedicate Russia to my Immaculate Heart. God has promised to save it if this done. So many souls are condemned by God's Righteous Justice because of the sins against Me. That is why I ask for reparation. Offer yourself to pray for this intention!!!"
